How this estimate works

Returns compound monthly; fixed monthly contributions arrive at month-end. They do not increase with inflation. Expenses and part-time income are in today’s purchasing power and rise with inflation. Required investment uses the same contribution schedule as the projection. Coast discounts the full retirement target back to the milestone. Barista funds the temporary spending gap plus a full-spending withdrawal-rule target when income ends. The chart includes Barista spending gaps; other modes show accumulation without retirement withdrawals. Estimated ages are searched only through age 100. With low real returns, a long Barista bridge can cost more than the full-spending withdrawal-rule benchmark.

Educational estimates only. Constant returns do not model market volatility, taxes or sequence-of-returns risk. Withdrawal rules and retirement outcomes are not guarantees, especially across different markets and currencies.
